It’s been a long while since Samsung launched a Tab FE tablet, ever since the summer of 2021, when Galaxy Tab S7 FE came out. Now there’s a rumor going around that it may be time for a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 FE. Let’s see what we know.
First of all, the device appeared in the benchmark GeekBench back in September, with the codename SM-X506B and also “Birdie”. Back then it was just a speculation that we were dealing with an FE slate, now the leakster Roland Quandt has confirmed it. The device is expected to have a larger screen compared to the Galaxy Tab S8 and also that it will be an LCD panel, unlike the AMOLEDs on the Tab S8+ and Tab S8 Ultra.
Native stylus support using a Wacom digitizer is in the cards as well. The GeekBench leak revealed that the tablet will feature a MediaTek Kompanio 900T processor, a 6 nm CPU with two Cortex-A78 cores and a Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. It’s comparable in performance with the Dimensity 900 and packs a 5G modem in the mix. There will also be a Wi-Fi version, don’t worry.
The test saw the device running on Android 13, with One UI 5.0 on top, but also saw it with 4 GB of RAM, which is kind of modest. The price of the Tab S7 FE was in the rang of 650 euros, so I expect something similar here, or higher.
