After the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite and Galaxy Tab S7 FE came out, we expected Samsung to also offer us a new flagship tablet. On paper we should see the Galaxy Tab S8 launching sometime around August, during the Unpacked event, but the latest rumors claim that it will come in 2022.
Just like most tech outfits, Samsung is being plagued by component/chip woes and this already killed the Galaxy Note 21 this year and also delayed the Galaxy S21 FE. The next big event that Samsung has prepared is the one on August 11th, when they’ll unveil the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3. Last year the summer event also brought us the Tab S7 and Tab S7+, but this year we won’t see a Tab S8.
A new rumor from Korea claims that Samsung will wait till 2022. A Tab S8 Ultra even gets mentioned, aside from the Tab S8 and Tab S8+. It it’s all delayed we may well see the new Exynos 2200 CPU inside, perhaps with AMD graphics. A new stylus would also be nice at this point, although I don’t know how much they can cut the already reduced latency. People are also speculating that a Snapdragon 895 may end up inside the slates in lieu of an Exynos.
That would be a 4 nm CPU, just like its Exynos counterpart. Priced are expected to start from $750 for the Tab S8 and reach $1300 for the superior model. AMOLED screens are expected with 12.4 inch size for the Tab S8+ and 14.6 inches for the Ultra. The regular Tab S8 should have a LCD screen with 11 inch diagonal.
