After quite a few leaks, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 3 rugged tablet finally debuted today, with an Exynos 9810 CPU in tow and an extra resilient body. The device also provides a rather generous 5050 mAh battery, as we found from sister site Mobilissimo.ro. More details are found below.

Promoted as a machine for the “toughest jobs”, the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 3 is meant for extreme environments and it comes with military grade certification (MIL-STD-810H). It’s anti shock, but this feature doesn’t also apply to the bundled S Pen. The latter does offer IP68 certification for dust and water. Upfront there’s an 8 inch TFT LCD panel with a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution, while inside we find a 5050 mAh battery, which is user removable. There’s also a No Battery Mode, which allows you to power the device via an external power source.

The specs sheet has an Exynos 9810 listed, the CPU found on the Samsung Galaxy S9 2 years ago. There’s also 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB or 128 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and 4G LTE connectivity. There’s also GPS, Beidou, Glonass and Galileo, as well as new technologies like WiFi 6 and USB 3.1. Fast charging is also here, plus a pogo pin USB 3.1 Gen 1 connector, a dedicated Active Key for most used apps and optimizations for barcode scanning with the camera. Speaking of which, there’s a 5 MP front camera here and a main 13 MP back shooter. Facial unlock and a fingerprint scanner are also present.

The touchscreen can be operated with gloves on. NFC is also here for cashless payments. It all runs on Android 10 with One UI on top and there are also some enterprise apps in the mix. Samsung promises 3 years of Android OS updates and Knox for security. The product is coming to select markets in Europe and Asia, but we don’t have a price yet.
