Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 slate has just been priced at $250 and made available in the USA via Amazon. This is the 7 inch version of the latest variant of the Galaxy Tab series, one that involves some pretty unimpressive specs, but also preinstalled Android 4.0 ICS as the selling point.

The tablet features a 7 inch 1024 x 600 pixel screen, a 1 GHz dual core processor and 8 GB of internal memory. Add to that front and rear cameras, WiFi 802.11n and Bluetooth 3.0 and you’ve got the perfect picture. Of course, one must wonder why this device costs so much when he/she can get an Amazon Kindle Fire for the low amount of $200. Similar prices are applying right now to the likes of the HTC Flyer and BlackBerry PlayBook tablets, so is it worth that $50 extra? And let’s not forget the Barnes & Noble Nook tablet!

You can even hack those models to run Android 4.0 and I, for one would stay away from any TouchWiz-based tablet, since they tend to be slowed down by their custom interfaces. Well, at least you get access to the Play Store, unlike what the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet offer…
