PiPo is yet another Chinese tablet maker, who is preparing a new tablet based on the Rockchip RK3288. This is their very first slate with this solution on board and the render below is supposed to give us an idea on how this model will look like.
The product is coming in April and Rockchip is claiming that the RK3288 brings a big performance boost compared to the RK3188. The RK3288 is based on the ARM Cortex A17 architecture and it’s a quad core setup with speeds up to 1.8 GHz. As a GPU we have the Mali T764 graphics chip, with H.265 hardware decoding and also support for 4K x 2K resolution.
Compared to the previous CPU, this one brings a GPU bump in performance of 500% and a CPU performance increase of 50%. The Cortex A17 is still 32 bit ARMv7 instruction set material, but future generations will evolve to 20 nm. Since the RK3188 was a hit on many tablets when it debuted, we expect the predecessor to do the same.
