Usually rugged devices and tablets included have modest specs and Panasonic can attest to that with the products in its Toughpad line. Well, the brand new Toughpad 4K FZ-Y1 has a very impressive set of specs, especially for a rugged slate.
First of all it runs Windows 10 and does that on top of a 20 inch 4K display, while also managing to survive an accidental drop. On board we’ve got the powerful Intel Core i7-5600U vPro chipset, with 16 GB of RAM paired and 256 or 512 GB of storage. AMD FirePro M5100 is the graphical solution taking care of your visual needs. The 20 inch screen offers a 3840 x 2560 pixel resolution, in case you’re wondering.
It has a 15:10 aspect and the Tougpad FZ-Y1 was made with working environments in mind. The 15:10 was made for viewing plans and designs in A3 paper sizes. Other welcome features are a HDMI 2.0 input port, meaning the slate can become a 4K monitor and there’s the optional Electronic Touch Pen, that does more than work like a conventional stylus. Instead it relies on infrared to read the pixels under the pen’s tip and thus is more accurate.
A magnesium frame and glass fiber case secures everything. The price is $4800 and the product comes in December.
