Panasonic introduced a new version of its rugged slate Toughpad FZ-B2 this week, with the new model offering extra resilience and also extra processing power. We are supposed to get a 32% improvement in performance, longer battery life and new enterprise features.
The device runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow and keeps the 7 inch screen and weight of the predecessor. Inside there’s a new CPU, the Intel Atom x5-Z8550 quad core unit, clocked at up to 2.4 GHz. Then we get an USB Type C port, Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC technology and Bluetooth 4.2. Toughpad FZ-B2 is coming to UK stores at the end of June, priced at around $960.
It can survive drops from up to 150 cm and has an IP65 rating for dust and waterproofing. The battery on board promises 8 hours of functioning time and it can also be swapped for as long as 16 hours of usage. Bar code and smart card readers are available for this slate and Google Android for Work is supported. Panasonic integrated here a Full HD front camera for videoconferencing and an 8 megapixel back shooter.
