It’s not every day that we stumble upon a piece of technology that may change the way we interact with e-readers. Today’s innovation is called Onyx Boox and it’s a 13.3 inch flexible e-reader, that just got pictured and detailed for the first time.
The launch was meant for October, but something delayed it. Onyx Boox is a 13.3 inch device with an E-Ink flexile panel, that offers a 2200 x 1650 pixel resolution, which means it’s superior to what Sony is offering on another e-reader. That one is the Sony DPT-S1, also has an E-Ink panel, but only 1600 x 1200 pixels. Onyx claims that the first gen product will have an inductive screen and it will be able to interact with a pen.
You will be able write, draw and take notes on the resulting device. Android is the platform of choice and compatibility with PDFs and the Kindle app has been confirmed. The launch of the Onyx Boox will happen in Spring 2016 and for now there’s no hint about the price. It will probably be steep….
