Cheap quad core tablets and phones from China are a big trend lately and the prices keep dropping. Now the tablet maker Onda jumps on the cheap quad core slate bandwagon, thanks to its brand new 9.7 inch model. Onda is popular in China for making some pretty good slates, being seen as a respectable brand, like Pipo or Ainol.

Unlike those brands, Onda is ready to jump from dual core to quad core. The new quad core model shown above will be up for pre-order on December 4th and it’s expected to launch on the 5th. Sadly, the details about the device are very limited and we only know it will come with an Allwinner A31 quad core processor and 9.7 inch display, probably with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. I can also speculate that the device will have 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and HDMI, since those features haven’t been missing from modern devices lately.

As far as price tag goes, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this model going for around $200. We’ve been seeing cheap slates with quad core CPUs for a while now, some of them even running Jelly Bean, so I can’t say I’m surprised by this product…
