The Nvidia Shield Tablet X1 is supposed to be a refresh of the Nvidia Shield Tablet lineup, following up on the just refreshed/rebranded Shield Tablet K1. This model has just leaked in GFXBench, with a pretty impressive set of scores.
The product comes with an impressive 256 core GPU, based on Maxwell technology and it marks a two fold increase in benchmark prowess compared to the last year 8 inch slate. The resolution is still Full HD and the powerful Nvidia Tegra X1 CPU is calling the shots here, in tandem with 32 GB of storage and 3 GB of RAM. There’s no back or front camera supported, but that can be the fault of the benchmark listed, so they’ll probably be on the final unit.
Hopefully, the huge processing power won’t kill the battery life and in turn the beefy battery won’t affect thickness… A sub $400 price tag is expected here, as well as Android 6.0 Marshmallow and possibly a powerful set of speakers and USB Type C connectivity. This has got to be the first time I’ve seen ANY device getting 103 FPS in the T-Rex Offscreen 1080p test. To put this into perspective the iPhone 6S Plus gets to 80 FPS…
