It appears that HTC is not ready to give up the tablet game, in spite of a pretty disappointing Nexus 9 model. There’s a new tablet in the making, an 8.9 incher that may see the light of day on April 8th, when HTC announces a few new devices like the HTC One E9, E9+ and M9+.

This new slate will feature an 8.9 inch display with a resolution of 2048 x 1530 pixels, as well as an octa core Allwinner H8 processor, clocked at 2.2 GHz. We’ve also got a PowerVR SGX544 GPU on board, as well as 2 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB of storage. The slate will integrate a 16 megapixel camera, a bit overkill for a tablet to be honest, as well as an 8 MP front cam.

Rumors say the new tablet will be merely 7.88 mm thin and it will include a 6700 mAh battery. Android 5.0 with HTC Sense 7.0 on top will be available on the software side. Stereo BoomSound speakers will be included and HTC plans to release two versions of the tablet: the HTC T1H WiFi, a WiFi only model and HTC T1H LTE with 4G LTE connectivity.

Expect a May release and low prices.
