A fresh Chromebook is now on sale, the ASUS Chromebook Flip, that comes with a rugged body and military grade specs. The machine has a 360 degree hinge and rubber bumpers . It was showcased all the way back at CES 2017 in January.

Aimed at students, this machine is also meant to reach schools and be thrown around, while also surviving rough contacts. The full name is ASUS Chromebook Flip C213 and the machine is powered by an Intel Apollo Lake dual core processor, of the N3350 variety, accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. There are two USB Type-C ports on board, two USB Type-A ports, a microSD card slot and audio jack.

Upfront there’s a HD camera for Skype and at the back there’s a 5 MP shooter. The Flip C213 has what ASUS calls a “modular construction”, meaning that school IT departments will be able to easily replace parts if the kids break them up. The product’s price is $349 and a glass and stylus version will come later on, priced at $399. That model will debut in September, just in time for school.

This is a 11.6 inch machine with a Full HD touchscreen and a battery expected to offer up to 12 hours of usage.
