Android 3.0 Honeycomb is a delight to watch in action, but that’s all we’ll be doing, if the very first tablet to run it is as expensive as $800. A leaked Best Buy advert shows a price tag of $799.99, huge for any kind of buyer, even one that’s been craving for the latest Android for months.
The document has reached the hands of Engadget and they point out that the Xoom will reach Best Buy stores on February 24, also making you activate a Verizon plan in the process. Four data plans will be made available, so you’ll pay $20 for 1GB, $35 for 3GB, $50 for 5GB or $80 for 10GB. These are month to month agreements, so you can cancel anytime you want.
There’s a limit of at least one month of activation, even if that only means using Xoom’s WiFi connection. Pricing details could change, but it’s kind of late to do that.
