Kobo announced today that it will be releasing the Android Jelly Bean update for the Kobo Arc tablet. This update brings the software to version Android 4.1 and it also brings some features like Google Now to the Kobo Arc, plus the welcome speed boost.
For those of you not familiar with the product, Kobo Arc comes in black and white, it has built in dual front facing speakers and SRS TrueMedia sound. It measures 11.5 mm in thickness and weighs 364 grams. Its specs include a 7 inch multitouch IPS display, with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels and 16.4 million colors on the display, plus extra clarity at extra wide viewing angles (89 degrees).
Inside there’s a 1.5 GHz dual core CPU, 1 GB of RAM and 16/32/64 GB of storage. The device’s battery provides 10 hours of reading and 2 weeks of standby. Initially the device ran Android 4.0 ICS and now with the software update it gets intelligent search recommendations, voice to text and more. The update is coming via OTA and it’s available right now.
