The 8.9 inch tablet format seems to be a thing of the past, but today we’ve uncovered such a model in Russia. The device is dubbed IRU P8901G and it’s an energy-efficient slate, with very good battery and an energy saving screen technology.

The product opts for a matrix PLS display, with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution. It runs Android 4.2 and uses a 7300 mAh battery, that should offer up to 11 hours of functioning time with WiFi on. Inside we get an octa core MediaTek 6592 1.7 GHz processor, 16 GB of storage and 2 GB of RAM, plus a microSD card slot. There’s also a gyroscope, accelerometer, electronic compass and GPS.

IRU P8901G measures 8.8 mm in thickness, weighs 425 grams and also brings 3G support, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0 and from what I saw it also comes with an impressive 13 megapixel camera at the back, with autofocus and flash. Upfront there’s  a 2 MP camera and the screen mentioned before is protected by Gorilla Glass.
