The iPad Mini 8 has leaked again, this time with a focus on its CPU. Turns out that the small tablet is about to get a serious performance bump. It’s rumored to adopt the A20 Pro chipset, courtesy of an iOS 26 build leak.
The info was pulled from an internal iOS 26 build, that shows Apple is testing the next gen mini already. Earlier rumors mentioned that the slate would move on from the A17 Pro to a more powerful chipset and some said it would be the A19 Pro. That’s the same chipset that powers the latest iPhone Pro models.
However, a new piece of info from tipster Kang from Weibo says that Apple is aiming higher. The A20 Pro will be a chip seen on the iPhone 18 lineup and on Apple’s first foldable phone. It could even be the first 2 nm Apple silicon. It’s expected to offer 15% more performance and up to 30% better power efficiency compared to the current 3 nanometer chips.
This means better gaming and also better battery life. The device is also said to get a serious screen upgrade, courtesy of an 8.5 inch OLED panel, a first for an iPad Mini. The refresh rate sticks to 60 Hz, sadly. Expect a Q3 2026 launch.
