We’ve heard contradicting reports on the iPad 5 so far, but today’s statements made by KGI Securites analyst Ming-Chi Kuo cleared the air a bit. We’ve previously found out that the new slate was going to launch this month, but it appears that it will come this fall after all.
It would make sense for Apple to keep a recently established tradition of showing new products in autumn, instead of the summer, with summer reserved for software launches only. Ming-Chi also says that the device will be 25% lighter and 15% thinner than the iPad 4 and it will probably adopt that technology that fuses the display panel and its glass, to keep it truly slim.
We also expect smaller bezels, in an iPad Mini styling and an Apple A7X processor, according tot he same source. The slate is supposed to be between 7.5 to 8 mm in thickness, says a research note quoted by MacRumors, while the weight will be around 500 grams. Seeing how crazy thin the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is, at 6.9 mm, I find it hard to be impressed by this device. We’ll see…
