Chinese inside sources are claiming that Apple might have not selected Sharp to deliver its Retina Display for the iPad 3, but instead it went with the usual suspects, Samsung and LG. The same sources are reporting that the new Apple tablet is in the making right now, having entered production phase and it also has a scheduled debut in March.

Korea’s Electronic Times says that Apple turned down Sharp with its Retina Display because they didn’t pass the strict approval process of the Cupertino giant. Meanwhile, LG and Samsung have been working with Apple for a while now, so they know what these companies are capable of and that they deliver every time. Apple is expected to order no less than 65 million iPad 3 units in 2012, says the same report, but none of them will feature a Sharp panel.

Japanese blog Macotakara had a contradicting story earlier this week, citing Chinese sources that said the iPad 3 is assembled by Foxconn and Pegatron with a 2048 x 1536 screen by Sharp. Well, at least both reports agree on the resolution, that’s actually appealing…
