There’s a company in Nigeria called Tecno, that has launched a few locally branded devices. Now they’re back with a new slate, that’s actually not that bad. The product is called Tecno Phantom N9 and it’s pictured below.
This is an 8 inch tablet with a white sleek body and Android 4.2.1 on board. We’ve got a quad core 1.2 GHz processor, a 5 megapixel camera at the back and a front 2 megapixel camera. The Phantom N9 features a silver flat back with speakers and camera embedded. The specs of the new model include 3G connectivity, a 768 x 1024 resolution, 16 GB of ROM, a microSD card slot and 1 GB of RAM.
There’s also GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, WiFi, a 4500 mAh battery and G sensor. The device measures 9.9 mm in thickness and offers up to 8 hours of talk time, so this is also a phone. Tecno predicts about 35k to 40k units of the product this year. I have to say that the packaging is really well done comparing to some East European slates.
