Samsung revealed today a fresh family of Windows-based machines, including a Windows RT model, the Ativ Tab, a Windows Phone 8 handset, the Ativ S and two Windows 8 slates: Ativ Smart PC and Smart PC Pro. Both are pictured below and can be considered alternatives to the ASUS Vivo tablets.
The 11.6 inch Smasung ATIV Smart PC and the Smart PC Pro offer the full computing power of a modern PC and the latest Windows and even Windows 7 compatibility. They come with detachable keyboards, that make the switch between clamshell notebook PC and tablet easier. Both models come with 10 finger multitouch screens and the famous S Pen, available for writing and drawing without problems. The pen supports 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity and these tablets come with the S Note app preloaded. ATIV Smart PC Pro measures 11.89 mm in thickness, without keyboard and integrates a 1366 x 768 screen with 400 nits of brightness.
Its battery offers 8 hours of functioning time on a 47 Wh unit. The device comes in the color black and relies on an Intel Core i5 CPU to run Win 8. This slate has 4 GB of RAM, Intel HD graphics, 2 speakers, a 5 megapixel rear camera and 2 megapixel shooter upfront. The storage is taken care of by a 256 GB SSD (maximum version). The standard Ativ Smart PC version has 2 GB of RAM, 128 GB eMMC storage, next gen Intel Atom processor, WiFi and a mHDMI port, among others.
