IDC revealed the stats for tablet shipments in Japan over the last quarter and the figures don’t exactly surprise us. As the whole tablet market shipped around 179 million units, 1.35 million commercial models came from Japan, a decrease of 15.2% from last year.
Apparently the business segment saw 440,000 units moved, a decrease of 12.9% from last year. The devices intended for schools and education increased by 17.9%. Apple stands dominant in Japan, with a 41.1% share, followed by Huawei, with 23.3% and Fujitsu, at 10.6%. Lenovo is fourth and then ASUS, with 7.1% and 5.8% respectively.
Apple has maintained position for the past year, while Huawei has grown in significant manner, by 43% even. Fujitsu managed to rack up more shipments in the education area. Detachables played a big part on the tablet market, although we don’t have the shares for mobile OSes to see if Microsoft got the benefit of the detachable sales.
