If you’ve been following the news, you’ve probably noticed a ton of leaks related to the Huawei Mate 40 and Mate 40 Pro. Well, we’re into bigger screen devices, so we’ve just uncovered what appears to be a hint related to the Huawei Mate X2. It’s a patent, that also includes a stylus and a screen strip.

Huawei has been rumored for a while now to be working on a foldable smartphone with UTG glass protection and also an inward folding design. The Mate X and Mate XS were outward folding, which put the screen at risk of scratches and other damages. The new patent which is detailed here via images was approved by CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) provided us with a look at a potential Mate X2. The renders reveal a side screen, that’s very narrow and used for notifications and contextual shortcuts.

The stylus is eerily similar to the Samsung S-Pen and the device pictured here definitely has slimmer bezels compared to both the Mate X and Mate XS. The patents mention a “connected sub display”, that will show contextual menus and additional app information. It also integrates two front facing selfie cameras, while at the back there’s a quad camera. To keep things really weird, the small screen panel can be raised from the main screen, while the bottom part hosts a stylus.

This definitely takes a jab at the rumored Galaxy Note/ Galaxy Fold hybrid that Samsung has been working on for years. Adding an extra screen and stylus can only increase the price to new heights, sadly.
