During this week’s CES 2012 show Huawei announced that the Huawei MediaPad tablet is one of the world’s first slates to come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich preinstalled. The original device was launched in June 2011, as another premiere, the world’s first 7 inch Android 3.2 tablet.

Huawei also made another announcement related to this product: a new color series of the device with fashionable slates in colors such as shadow black, classic brown, passion pink and with Android 2.3 as the OS. All MediaPad units have high quality displays, with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels at 217 ppi and they support 1080p full HD video playback. Inside there’s a dual core 1.2GHz processor and the batteries on board are capable of providing 6 hours of functioning time.

The device with Android 4.0 preinstalled will be available in selected markets in the first quarter of 2012, while the exiting tablets already sold will get the new OS via OTA upgrade by the first quarter of this year.
