After Samsung had its fun and launched a few tablets (or leaked some, can’t even tell at this point), it’s Huawei’s time to reply. They’re prepping mode MediaPad slates, like the Huawei MediaPad M7. The device has just leaked and it seems to feature a punch hole camera, like the MatePad Pro had.
MediaPad M7 seems to have snuck during the presentation of the new TV Huawei Smart Screen X65 from yesterday. It appeared in the official pictures showcased at the launch. The images included a Huawei Smart Screen X65 connected to two products, the Huawei P40 and the Huawei MediaPad M7. How to tell it’s not the MatePad Pro? The tablet seems to be smaller and adopts a punch hole and bezels which are a bit bigger than the MatePad Pro. Oddly enough, a punch hole camera is usually associated with a narrow bezel, but here that doesn’t apply.
It feels like a rushed Photoshop job, if you look at it closely. The cutout feels out of place in its angle. Anyway, we’re expecting a sort of lighter version of the MatePad Pro. It could have a 16:10 screen with an 8 or 9 inch diagonal, 10 inches tops and a Full HD resolution. There should also be 6 GB of RAM on board, 128 GB of storage and maybe the new Kirin 820 CPU. A 5G version could come later and I also expect compatibility with the Huawei M Pen stylus.
I expect a price close to $300 and perhaps also a dual back camera on board.
