Huawei MediaPad M5 Lite is by no means a new tablet, being unveiled almost a year ago, at IFA 2018. Weirdly enough it needed one full year to debut in India, where it’s just become available with a rather hefty price of $310. In reality it should be closer to $200, if you ask me.
This is a media tablet first and foremost, packing a 7500 mAh battery and quad speakers. It’s got a 10.1 inch screen and it supports input from the M-Pen Lite stylus. Specs are OK for a midranger: Full HD+ resolution, a Kirin 659 CPU and 3 GB/ 4 GB of RAM, as well as 32/64 GB of storage and a microSD card slot. There’s a 2.5D curved glass upfront and the kids get a special eye comfort mode.
The OS of choice is the already old Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 on top. There’s also an 8 megapixel back camera with autofocus and F/2.2 aperture, plus a front 8 MP shooter with F/2.0 aperture. Harman Kardon tuned the quad speakers o board and there’s also Histen 5.0 stereo audio for a more immersive experience. On the connectivity front we’ve got 4G LTE, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS and an audio jack.
MediaPad M5 Lite bundles a free M Pen stylus with 2048 layer pressure sensitivity. It measures 7.7 mm in thickness and weighs 475 grams. The device will be up for purchase from September 29th.
