Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin has just leaked some info concerning a brand new Huawei device, a 8.5 inch phablet, that’s in prototype phase right now. Recently Huawei announced that it would be making a Galaxy Note II rival, with a big screen, but this seems more like a full fledged tablet.

Claiming that the placeholder image above shows a 8 incher is a bit far fetched, since we could b e dealing with the 6.1 inch 1080p Huawei Ascend Mate that we’ve heard about before. It will all become clear next month at CES 2013, or the month after that, at MWC 2013. The same article detailing the Huawei unit, also claims that Nokia is preparing a phablet of its own, going as Nokia Lumia Juggernaut Semaphore.

The device would run Windows Phone 8, adding another OS into the phablet battle. And the Galaxy Note III hasn’t even started to leak out properly… Huawei, Samsung and Nokia are just a few of the companies supposed to be launching big diagonal handsets in the next months. Sony, ZTE, HTC and some other Asian brands may also get in the game.
