HP keeps on churning launches and announcements this week, so after debuting a few detachables, they’ve come up with an original accessory. It’s an updated EliteDisplay S14, a portable 1080p display, that hooks up to your PC or laptop.
The new S14 is meant to provide a quick extra monitor on the go, for laptops and tablets. It’s useful for photographers and videographers, who may need a second screen for their work. Collaboration also comes to mind in corporate areas. The EliteDisplay S14 is a 14 inch portable monitor, which comes with a wraparound easel cover, that props up the machine when in use.
The coves also protects it obviously. The design styles completes and complements the one of the HP PCs and laptops. One single USB Type-C port is here to offer both video signal and power, minimizing the number of dongles and accessories in the work area. The power that comes from the laptop or tablet is hooked up at 5W with a top of 15W.
The screen itself has a 16:9 aspect, 14 inch diagonal and weighs 2.2 lbs (sans stand). It’s supposed to be 46% thinner and 12% lighter than previous gen models. The panel has 178 degree view angles horizontally and vertically, plus it uses a native Full HD resolution at 60 Hz refresh (5 ms GTG). Brightness is rated at 220 nits and the static contrast ratio is 700:1. The price is $219 and the product comes in July.
