Fuhu is probably the tablet brand we’ve heard most often linked with kids tablets, so we’re not exactly surprised to see them launching one more such device. Fuhu debuted today the Elev-8 model, an 8 inch slate that’s pictured below.

It comes with an 8 inch 1280 x 800 pixel display and apparently this model has a very slim chassis, for its segment. There’s a child-proof casing in the mix, that probably cancels that slimness claim and specs include 32 GB of storage, a microSD card slot, a 5 megapixel main camera and a front 2 MP shooter, as well as a microphone. Elev-8 brings a child-friendly interface, large and colorful icons and a variety of apps and activities.

The slate is available in Walmart and Toys R Us locations, priced at $169. Those who purchase it before December 31st will get a free six month Nabi Pass, which is a subscription to child-friendly and educational content. Discovery and National Geographic Kids content is included, as well as Cupcake Digital items and children’s literature.
