Huawei debuted this week a brand new tablet, the Huawei MatePad T 10 Kids Edition. This is a slate designed for kids, but not your average ones, but rather very small children, toddlers, infants. The product is basically a MatePad T 10s, with some tweaks.

It keeps the Kirin 710A processor, but adopts a smaller 9.7 inch 1280 x 800 pixel IPS LCD display. It runs on Android 10 with EMUI 10.1 on top, but sans HarmonyOS, or Google Services. It also has a measly 2 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB of storage, but at least there’s a microSD card slot. The product is protected against damage with a brightly colored exterior, with an anti shock case, made of “food grade silicone”. It can take a punch, a splash of apple juice, mashed potatoes or milk.

The case is removable, for the kids who behave. There’s also a big handle in the mix, doubling as a kickstand and the tablet is provided with a 12 month subscription to Azoomee. This is a device that provides puzzles, games and videos tailor picked for kids. You can also doodle with a stylus and the Huawei MatePad T 10 Kids Edition comes with a 5100 mAh battery with a 5W charger included, with USB-C connector. The tablet has a safety feature which disables the device when charging, to avoid accidents.

Other specs include: 4G LTE, WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, two speakers, a 2 MP front camera and 5 MP main camera. There’s a Kids Corner, parental control and timer, plus a few learning apps. The product has hit Indonesia first, priced at $200.
