Ematic has a new tablet for you, an Android 4.0 model with affordable price tag. We’re dealing with a $219 slate here, the Ematic eGlide XL Pro 2, that comes with some pretty good specifications. It has a 10 inch display and the latest Android release, plus the features detailed below.

eGlide XL Pro 2 comes with a 1 GHz processor, 400 MHz GPU and it appears that the device involves an agreement with Kobo for book delivery. Google services aren’t mentioned anywhere, so you’ll need to mess with the Google Play Store .APK to get it on the slate. Ematic also provides the proprietary EDAN voice assistant app, that comes preloaded on this gadget. The tablet is for sale right now at big names such as Wal-Mart.

Let’s just hope that Android 4.0 ICS runs flawlessly on it, although some of you may argue that $219 is still a big price and that the Nook Tablet and Amazon Tablet are cheaper and can get Android 4.0 ICS via hacking/rooting. Also, there are sub $150 tablets out there with ICS too, so…

Kinda stupid here. Yes the Nook and Fire are cheaper but they are 7″ tablets and you have to hack/root to get ICS which is not an argument in their favor.  The argument you should have used is that “although they are 7″ tablets, the Nook and Fire and cheaper and are a known quantity.”  That is about the only argument you can use against a $219 10″ ICS tablet until you actually get a hands on and test whether it actually works.

I bought the Ematic for my Granddaughter who is 12 years old for Christmas and it does not work. I bought it through Walmart and now I cannot even return it for another one. I am disappointed that I have to buy a different one and lose the money I spent.
