Durabook Americas launched a new fully rugged tablet, known as U11 TabletFirst. It’s an 11.6 inch slate with Quick Release SSD and DOD level of security. It’s meant for field workers and the military. The newcomer features an Intel 7th gen CPU, Windows 10 Pro and MIL STD 810G and 461F ratings.

There’s also DOD level security and a Full HD sunlight readable LCD display. U11 is perfect for flight maintenance, field diagnostics, data collection, law enforcement and other extreme condition jobs. The U11 will be sold with one of the 3 Intel 7th gen processors, which are the m3-7Y30, i5-7Y54, or i7-7Y75 with vPro. RAM-wise, you get between 4 GB and 16 GB, while storage goes up to 512 GB, in a quick release SSD version.

Remote workers are thus enabled to solve their tasks in the field. There’s Windows 10 Pro as the OS here, with a layered defense to protect business users. I feel the need to highlight the ruggedness of this 11.6 inch tablet. It can take drops, shocks, vibration, rain, dust, sand, humidity, freezing and extreme temperatures, as well as temperature shock. It can eve take electromagnetic interference like a champ.

There’s IP65 rating and more, many more specs. It’s a sealed, fanless product, meaning that dust, sand and other small particles will be kept out. TMP 2.0 is also here, plus a SmartCard/CAC Reader and optional Intel vPro technology, fingerprint scanner and contactless reader. On the connectivity front, there’s Intel Dual Band wireless AC 9260, Bluetooth 5.0 and optional 4G LTE.

The Durabook rugged PCs come with a standard 3 year warranty and the U11, R8300 and R11 are covered by accidental damage warranty. We don’t have prices yet.
