Digitimes Research is here again with a new series of stats, that are related to tablet shipments. Apparently, in the first quarter of the current year, global tablet shipments from the first quarter dropped 35.3% on quarter.
There were 49.08 million tablets shipped internationally in the first quarter of the year, a 35.3% decrease on quarter and a 15.3% decrease on year. The shipments included 12 million Apple iPad slates, plus 19.1 million non iPad models, as well as 18 million white box units, said the same source. OF all the shipments 27.2% stood for 7 inch models, while 17.1% were 7.9 inch models and 10.4% were 8.x inchers.
9.x inch models took up 24.1% and 10.x inchers were at 15.4%. Apple is still the world’s largest tablet vendor internationally, with 24.4% of the shipments, followed by Samsung with 17.9% and Lenovo with 4.2%. ASUS took up 3.5% and Microsoft 1.8%. TCL got to 1.6% and Amazon 1.3%. Huawei and Acer had the same percentage, 1.2% and Del scored 0.7%.
Taiwanese ODM and OEMs shipped 17.6 million slates in the quarter and Foxconn got 59.2% of the shipments.
