Beauty shot of a Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet (Model 7202), codename Livingstone.

We usually admire urban rugged tablets meant for building sites of future skyscrapers. Well, today we take the slates up a notch, courtesy of the Dell Latitude 12 Rugged Tablet, pictured below.

When a product series is called Rugged, you know its maker means business… This device handles mud, spills, dust, sand and drops from over four feet, feeling right at home both at the Arctics and in Afghanistan. It can withstand temperatures between minus 20 and 145 degrees F. Dell even mentions an “explosive atmosphere”, making this a candidate for a warzone tablet.

Dell Latitude 12 Rugged brings an 11.6 inch HD screen, that can work easily even with work gloves on and in bright sunlight. It has quad cooling thermal management and inside we find a fifth gen Intel Core processor, Windows 8.1 and a battery that can offer 12 hours of functioning. Up to 512 GB of SSD is available here. An optional full sized keyboard cover is also in the mix and special vehicle/desk docks.

The Latitude 12 Rugged goes for $3649 in an Intel Core i3 4 GB RAM version, and superior models are pricier.
