The iPad 2 is not only selling well, but also getting the appreciation of experts in the field, with Consumer Reports claiming that the device’s quality is impressive. They compared the new slate to other 9 tablets on the market and ran a 17 point test on 10 devices in total. They included the iPad 2, Motorola Xoom and other products made by Dell, Samsung, Archos and even the original iPad.

The winner was the 32GB iPad 2 with 3G, as the best product available on the market. Paul Reynolds, an editor with Consumer ReportsĀ  praised the quality and price of the slate. Motorola Xoom was considered the biggest competitor for the iPad 2, the receiver of “Excellent” ratings in almost all 17 categories.

Xoom’s final score tied with the one of the first iPad, while its problem was of course the huge $800 retail price. Meanwhile, you can find the original iPad for even under $500 (32GB, WiFi) in some outlets.
