TCL is one of the companies that showcased new products at CES 2023, including the TCL Nxtpaper 12 Pro, with a color e-paper display. It’s a 12.2 incher with decent midrange specs.
We’re dealing with 12.2 inch e-paper tablet that provides a 2160 x 1440 pixel resolution and a 60 Hz refresh rate. There’s also a 3:2 aspect ratio. The display offers 370 nits of brightness. The screen is able to fight glare and blue light, by using a multi layer filter system. TCL claims that this panel is supposed to be different from the usual LCDs, that a yellowish tint to them.
TCL also claims that this panel reduces blue light emissions by 61%, which is quite impressive. It’s basically similar to the “Kindle effect”. There’s also a special grayscale reading mode, that turns the screen monochrome, so you can have an E Ink like experience. Reading e-books and other content is going to be easier thanks to the reading mode. TCL also claims that it ha doubled the brightness level to check for outdoor reading experiences without hurting the eyes.
Aside from that, it runs on Android 12, but with optimizations. There’s a PC Mode, that lets you do file management. Plus there’s also a floating window mode, for improved multitasking. A stylus is also in the mix, with 8192 levels of pressure. Specs-wise, we get a MediaTek Kompanio 800T processor, together with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. There’s also a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi dual band, Bluetooth 5.1, a 13 MP main camera with autofocus and 8 MP front camera.
It weighs 599 grams and packs an 8000 mAh battery with 13 hours of life to spare. It’s priced at $499 without 5G and $549 with it.
