Acer is one of the first big firms to make announcements at CES 2016, in Las Vegas. They started off with the Iconia One 8 (B1-850) slate, that’s pictured below and comes with an 8 inch screen, as well as family-friendly features.

This model packs the Kids Center app, that includes a child-friendly interface and parental controls. On board we find an 8 inch HD IPS screen with 10 point multitouch and wide viewing angles. The new tablet offers 9 hours of battery life, a MediaTek quad core processor, a 5 megapixel main camera and a front 2 MP shooter, as well as 1 GB of DDR3L RAM and 16 GB of storage.

A microSD card slot is also here, while the back cover comes in blue or white. Aside from Kids Center, that offers parental control and selected content for kids, Acer included Smart Tools on the slate. Among those we find EZ WakeUp, that awakens the tablet with one touch and double tap, loading a selection of apps.

Then there’s EZ Snap for screenshots taken using a 3 finger pinch and System Doctor, that manages the device’s memory, storage and apps, in order to optimize functionality. Acer Iconia One 8 (B1-850) comes to North America next month, starting at $99.99.
