Blackview is a name I must admit I haven’t heard of before, but apparently they’re making a pretty compelling budget tablet. I’m talking about the 10.1 inch Android 10 slate dubbed Tab 8. I must admit that a name like Blackview Tab 8 makes me think more of an 8 inch tablet rather than a 10 incher, but let’s give it a chance.

So first of all Blackview is better known for its rugged smartphones with embedded FLIR thermal cameras. They just debuted the Tab 8, a budget slate, which is promoted as good for streaming movies and TV shows, also email, editing documents and web browsing. There’s also some modest gaming done on the 10.1 inch 1920 x 1200 pixel display. Inside the device we find a 1.6 GHz octa core Unisoc SC9863A processor, with 8 Cortex-A55 cores in two clusters, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, as well as support for a TF card up to 128 GB.

Specs include a 5 megapixel front shooter with F/2.2 aperture, as well as a main 13 megapixel camera with F/2.2 aperture and a flash. The battery inside is a 6580 mAh unit, that charges up via USB-C. We also have an audio jack and on board there’s a dual nano SIM tray, for two SIMs. Dual speakers are also here and the device is available in grey or gold. The price is $160 and the product is up for preorder right now, at least in USA and UK.
