Believe it or not, there are people who like to say in bed with a hot cup of coffee and do their shopping on the tablet. Especially if they own an iPad… It appears that 88% of the tablet-based shopping done this Black Friday happened from iPads.

Online sales grew 20.7% from last year and 16% of them were performed on mobile, up from 10% in 2011. IBM is publishing these figures, so there’s no reason for them to embellish. The stats are saying that Apple’s slate generated more traffic than any other tablet or smartphone when it comes to online shopping, reaching 10% of the entire segment. It was followed by the iPhone with 8.7% of sales. Android devices with shopping happening on them took 5.5% of online sales on Black Friday.

Barnes and Noble Nook, Amazon Kindle and Samsung Galaxy slates generated 3.1%, 2.4% and 1.8% respectively when it comes to tablet-based BF shopping. I would have also liked to know how many iPads and Android tablets were purchased on Black Friday and especially how many Android tablets were purchased from an iPad. Oh the irony…
