For those of you who bought an ASUS Eee Pad Transformer tablet when it came out this summer, there’s a new firmware release available for you, but don’t expect anything related to Android ICS here. This is merely firmware update version 8.6.5.21 and not Android 4.x, or at least not yet. In the meantime ASUS keeps working on bringing the latest Android to one of its best selling tablets.

The firmware update I mentioned brings a couple of bug fixes and some tweaks to the user experience. After performing the update, you’ll run Android version 3.2.1, you’ll have GPS version 5.5.8, WiFi version 5.2.65 and Bluetooth version 6.24. Kernel version will become 2.6.36.3-00001-g9a21fc1android@Mercury #1 and build number will be HTK75.US_epad-8.6.5.21-10221216. If these figures and letters don’t mean anything to you, try to think about the bugs and problems that this slate had and imagine them away now.

That’s about it when it comes to minor updates and you can compare these with the defender of a soccer team. They don’t get much camera time, but you know they’re there, keeping the team safe. Good analogy, right?
