The ASUS Transformer Book Trio has got to be one of the most original products on the market, since it’s truly 3 things in one. It’s a desktop computer, a laptop and a tablet and it has just reached the FCC in its path to US release.
The keyboard base features an Intel Haswell CPU and can be connected to a display and used as a full fledged desktop PC, while the tablet part features an Intel Atom CPU. Together, the tablet and keyboard create a powerful hybrid, that runs Windows 8 and Android. The slate on its own has Android and the notebook setup allows you to use Windows 8.
The product’s test documents mention options for a Core i5 or Core i7 processor, up to 8 GB of RAM in the keyboard and an Intel Atom 2560 Clover Trail+ in the slate area, plus 2 GB of RAM, also in the tablet. I expect a big price tag here, but this time it’s actually worth it.
