ASUS Chromebook Flip was a bit of an odd duck, when it debuted last year, since it was one of the first Chromebooks with a 10 inch screen and also a flip design. It became even more special this year, by gaining support for Android apps and now we’re getting ready for a new generation of this product.
ASUS is said to be working on a convertible Chromebook tablet with an Intel Skylake processor inside. While ASUS gave no hints in that regard, the folks of Chrome Unboxed found some comments within the Chromium source code, that may serve as hints for this new product. The new device is codenamed “Cave” and we take it with a grain of salt.
A few things are still pretty certain about it: it will have a touchscreen display, tablet functionality will be present and the convertible and flip format will be kept. Cave will adopt the 6th gen Intel Core Skylake CPU, too. No idea what the other specs will be, but a bump to 8 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage (double the specs of the CPU) is pretty much a given.
