The Archos Gamepad 2 is an upcoming gaming tablet that has just hit the FCC and it’s preparing for debut, probably at IFA 2013. Archos is a French firm famous for its budget and midrange tablets, among them being a gaming slate called the Gamepad.

Now we’re preparing for the GamePad 2, a 7 inch tablet with the codename A70GP2. Basically, this model will be tweaked version of the Arnova 70 Archos unit. The design of the newcomer will be pretty much the same one with the predecessor’s, with directional buttons, an analog stick and action buttons on the sides.

The previous GamePad had a 7 inch 1024 x 600 pixel screen, an ARM Cortex A9 1.6 GHz CPU, Mali 400 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. I expect the newcomer to at least update the storage from 8 GB to 16 GB, the resolution as well and run Android 4.2. Controls are manually configurable and the maker of the device promises compatibility with over 6500 gaming titles.
