Archos has officially announced a new tablet, the FamilyPad 2 and they chose Facebook to do that. The first FamilyPad was unveiled in November last year, so this launch happens pretty closer to the first model, surprising as that may seem.

Archos decided not to use the Arnova branding on this tablet this time. It’s been a while since we’ve heard of the 13.3 inch format being used, with Toshiba being one of the few companies that risked that. The Archos model supports a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution and we guess it could have been better for this diagonal. The Archos FamilyPad 2 incorporates a 1.6 GHz dual core ARM Cortex A9 CPU with quad core graphics and 1 GB of RAM.

There’s also 8 GB of storage, a microSD card slot, dual 2 MP cameras at the front and back and WiFi connectivity. The device runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and it measures 11.6 mm in thickness, while weighing a pretty impressive 1.3 kg. The device ships with a quick stand, as shown in the image above and it comes free of charge.

Also, you should know that the pricing of the device is 299 euros.
