We’ve been hearing for far too long about this mystery new iPad Mini, a 7.85 inch version that’s supposed to rival the Amazon Kindle Fire, its future versions and the yet unreleased Google Nexus Tablet. The only problem I have with this project is the fact that I don’t think Apple will price it “cheap”, since they never compromise like that…
This time the info about the 7.85 inch iPad comes from John Gruber of Daring Fireball, as an answer to the question: is Apple going to launch a 7 inch iPad and if not, why not? The question came during episode 86 of the Talk Show. Gruber says that the 7.85 inch iPad runs at 1024 x 768 pixels, like a regular iPad, but shrunk down a bit. Of course, he didn’t forget to mention that this could merely be a prototype that will never make it on the market.
Rumors about this new iPad have been coming out of various sites in China and that’s the place where Apple manufactures its slates, so they must know something. Apple is known for creating products, designing them and making them into real devices, that go through testing for a while and it they’re found satisfactory they enter mass production. If the tests are not satisfactory, then the device is canned. Having a 7.85 inch iPad Mini in the labs doesn’t always mean that the product will also get released…
