Recently, US Patent and Trademark Office published a new Apple patent that makes reference to an intelligent cover housing for iPad tablets that will offer a better protection in case of accidental drops. We get to know that this housing will pack several components designed to protect the tablet from impacts.
This new intelligent cover will be sold as an electronic device that will have a motion sensor and a processor designed to determine an impact geometry based on motion. Later, in case of a drop, the housing will absorb the impact energy without breaking electronic components of the tablet.
Also, among motion sensors and the integrated processor, the cover may arrive in the package with an Air Brake technology that will use the iPad speakers in order to generate an air pulse before the impact. Even if right now is just a concept, this cover could be launched soon, followed by a similar housing for iPhone devices too.
