Sources familiar with Apple’s plans have revealed to the folks of AllThingsD that the Cupertino giant is preparing an iPad Fall event for October 22nd. Apple is set to announce a couple of new products before the year is out the unveiling of the new tablets takes place on the 22nd.
Aside from the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 we’ll also be witnessing the debut of the Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks on the same stage. The fifth gen iPad is expected to adopt a thinner and lighter design, very much like the iPad Mini’s, plus an improved camera. It will run on Apple’s brand new 64 bit A7 chip from the iPhone 5s and also borrow from it the Touch ID fingerprint scanner.
Sources didn’t mention when the event will be held but the Tuesday after next is the most likely option. The event won’t be held at the California Theatre in San Jose, the place where the iPad Mini was shown in 2012, so it will probably be the Apple Town Hall Auditorium in Cupertino or the Yerba Buena Center in San Francisco. Who’s excited?
