Apple has not only unveiled iOS 6.0, a bunch of new MacBooks and Maps yesterday, but also a brand new tablet accessory. I’m talking about the iPad Smart Case, the follow up to the Smart Cover, with extra protection and an affordable price tag of $50.
This case protects the iPad’s back and front, as shown in the picture. What it actually adds is a polyurethane hardshell to complement the basic concept of the Smart Cover. The case fits both second gen and third gen iPads and will come in 6 color versions. The product is available in dark gray, light gray, red, green, blue and pink and it’s also available in leather, but no option like that was posted on the web just yet.
Just like the Smart Cover, the top cover of the Smart Case will have the role of also waking up your iPad or putting it to sleep when it’s the case. It also serves as some sort of stand, as shown in the picture above. The purpose here is to better protect the Apple tablets, since after all you’re looking after a Retina Display and great battery now, right? Frankly speaking, this product was kind of ignored at WWDC 2012 and didn’t even get an official announcement, so people had to discover it on their own. I wonder why is that…
