Apple just got a bunch of patents this week, related to quite a few of its products, including the iPad and iPhone. The US Patent and Trademark Office published a series of the 52 newly granted patents for Apple, with the most interesting one being a hybrid electronic paper and video display.

This invention related to displaying visual content on a hybrid electronic paper and video screen. The design is smart and Apple describes it as being able to subdivide itself into quadrants, that are able to switch display types depending on the content played by the user. Apple also got a patent related to a 3D Apple TV remote and finally a very interesting one related to that dual iPad connector.

This patent has the late Steve Jobs as one of its designers and it includes a portrait and landscape connector. That would be a bit overkill, if you ask me and one can’t help but wonder if such a patent is related to an accessory, a special case of keyboard for the device, maybe a keyboard dock with battery…
