Since Windows 10 is here today on July 29th, we may as well show you an unboxing of a tablet with this OS on board. I’m talking about the Allview Wi8G, an 8 inch tablet with Windows 10 on board, that gets unboxed below. For those wondering, Allview is a Romanian company that has quite a few tablets in its portofolio.
Priced at $175, this device was actually reviewed by us a while ago, in a Windows 8.1 version. Now it has come again, this time with Windows 10, but with the same specs. Inside the box there’s the 8 inch 3G tablet with GPS, accompanied by a manual, charger and USB cable, as well as USB OTG cable. The slate comes with an Intel Atom Z3735G processor, clocked at 1.8 GHz, plus an 8 inch IPS LCD display with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution.
Also on board we find 16 GB of storage, 1 GB of RAM, GPS, Bluetooth and a SIM card slot, with 3G support. At the front there’s a 2 MP camera, while at the back there’s a cam with the same resolution. The product measures 9 mm in thickness and packs a 3800 mAh battery. As far as Windows 10 goes, on this 8 inch format it seems to function quite nicely, lag-free.
It has Cortana, a tablet mode, a Desktop mode with folders and a Start menu that has tiles included. There’s also an Action Center taken from Windows Phone, a minimal Settings area and a more compact keyboard. The app listing in tablet mode is now on the side and in the desktop area you can work with multiple desktops for improved multitasking.
Those are the first things we noticed in Windows 10, but we’ll be back with more details soon.
