The brand new Acer Iconia A1-810 is a 7.9 inch slate with a quad core processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The device incorporates an IPS screen and it will have a price tag of 199 euro, at least in France, which is a very good alternative for the 339 euro paid for the rival Apple tablet.

Acer Iconia A1-810 relies on a MediaTek MT8125 processor (ARM Cortex A9) 1.2 GHz 4 core CPU, that may not be as fast as a Tegra or Exynos, but it’s still decent. At least it’s the most economically sound choice for its maker, keeping the price down. We’ve also got 1 GB of RAM available, as well as 16 GB of storage and a microSD card slot. WiFi, Bluetooth and a 5 megapixel cam are included, while upfront there’s a 0.3 MP shooter.

This new Acer Iconia model uses a microUSB 2.0 port and a micro HDMI as well. Officially, this slate promises to offer up to 7 hours of continuous usage, courtesy of a 3250 mAh battery. It appears that the Acer Iconia B1 wasn’t the only cheap slate from this company this year, so aside from the A1 we should have a few more, maybe in the 10 inch segment as well.
